What to expect when you visit

Prayers – There will be several prayers during our service. (I Thessalonsians 5:17)

Singing – There are hymnbooks provided for your use. Instruments do not accompany our singing. You may find this strange but it is our goal to follow the pattern of the New Testament. Instruments are not mentioned but singing is. (Colossians 3:16, Hebrews 13:15)

The Lord’s Supper – Some words will be said in relation to Christ’s sacrifice for us. Unleavened bread, and cups containing grape juice, will be distributed throughout the congregation. We remember Christ in this way every first day of the week. There is little reference in the New Testament about how often the Lord’s Supper was done but historical writings tell us it was weekly. (Matthew 26: 26-30, Acts 20:7)

The Offering – Containers will be passed to collect the weekly financial offering. (I Corinthians 16:1,2) As or guest you are not expected to make a donation. When the basket comes to you just pass it on.

Preaching – A Bible-based sermon, about 20-30 minutes, will be presented. It is intended to encourage in addition to challenge. The preacher has no special status. All Christians are a royal priesthood. (I Peter 2:5,9)

Invitation – At the conclusion of the preacher’s lesson an invitation will be extended. He will encourage those who wish to be baptized into Christ Jesus (Romans 6:3,4) or have special prayer requests to come to the front during the singing of a hymn.
